Sprache: English

In this lecture you can learn how to use the WS2812 RGB LED (a.k.a Neopixels) protocol as a source for reading buttons. With a simple circuit and some clever coding you are not only be able to drive a large number of 8-bit color LED's with a single line, you can now read the same amount of keys with just another wire.

The research was made by noisio in the recent years when he was developing the Base61 synthesizer. While the proof was made with a simple ATtiny microcontroller, the concept now can be ported to other microcontroller families as well. Let's talk about how to archieve this.

Noisio is an artist, musician, electronics engineer and programmer. Having fun with mistakes and previously unknown features, he discovers new sounds, designs synthesizer soldering kits for everyone and takes them on workshop and concert tour.
